This class unites substances and products that can dissolve organic tissue or severely corrode certain metals. Chemical properties of these materials have negative impact at contact with skin and a mucous membrane. In case of leak or a pouring they can cause damage or destruction of other goods or vehicles.

The 8th class also covers substances that can form corrosion liquid at connection with water or at natural air humidity can form corrosion couples or suspensions.

Depending on the level of danger all these substances are subdivided on high corrosive, corrosive and slightly corrosive. Acids and alkalis belong to the most dangerous.

  • Division 8.1: Acids (sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc)
  • Division 8.2: Alkalis (potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, etc)
  • Division 8.2: Miscellaneous (iodine, mercury, etc)
